Bromley Women’s Aid Registered Charity No. 1068007
A Company Limited by Guarantee Registered in England No. 3320296
BWA is managed by a voluntary Board of trustees, all of whom give their time without receiving any remuneration or benefit from their positions. Their commitment and dedication has been the key to our successes thus far and a valuable asset to the organisation. This continuing commitment and dedication is undoubtedly the key to our future success.
However the expectation of the Charity Commission and the sector generally require increasing standards of professionalism and in order to meet these expectations, the Trustees are committed to maintaining the highest standards of probity, integrity and good governance. They are responsible under BWA’s governing document for the control, management, and administration of the charity. The Board carries out its role in supervising all financial controls, staff management, provision of refuge accommodation and support services.
BWA’s Trustees are elected annually at the AGM. Their addresses and registered address are not indicated for reasons of confidentiality.
The board of trustees, which presently consists of 7 members, administers the charity and meets once every eight weeks. Members have a range of experience relevant to BWA; they may have professional or personal experience of this field.
In addition to board meetings the finance sub-committee meets twice a year to discuss BWA’s financial affairs in detail and to take recommendations to the board.
A Finance and Strategy manager is appointed by the trustees to manage the organisation’s finances, ensuring that the charity delivers the services specified, that the organisation continues to implement good management practices and that key performance indicators are met.
The Finance and Strategy manager also assists the trustees in formulating and regularly reviewing BWA’s vision, values, risk management and long-term strategies.
The Support Services manager, with in-depth knowledge of the Supporting People framework, has responsibility for the day to day operational management of the services, individual supervision of the staff team and volunteers, and also ensuring that the team continue to develop their skills in line with good working practices.
